Hermes 10-Miler

Loved this race.  They changed the course and I couldn't have been more happy with the new layout.  We started at Edgewater Park, which is absolutely clean and beautiful now that the Cleveland Metroparks took over ownership of it.  The course ran along Edgewater Drive, through the Cleveland westside, circling back through Battery Park before slipping us through an underground tunnel and finishing along the lake. I had been running on the dreadmill all winter...especially since this was one of the coldest winters since I moved up here! I wasn't sure what to expect for a time as I didn't really have a benchmark.  I was thrilled with my time as it was just a hair over one minute off my PR at 1:47:28.  I'll take it.  We were treated with beautiful temps, a newly designed course, and wonderful goodies at the finish line.  Great way to get in a long run with about a thousand of my closest friends.

Love the skyline view of Cleveland!

Happy Memorial Day!

Wonderful 18-mile bike ride with Greg through the Metroparks. About 14 miles into the ride, a police officer on a motorcycle pulled up next to Greg and me and explained we would need to pull over soon as the motorcycle brigade was coming through. I asked about how many there would be and the officer responded about a thousand. Sure enough, 15 minutes passed and we saw probably a thousand riders. Such a cool experience to see! I commented to Greg when we got home that I really smelled and needed a shower. Seriously, isn't that just the best? When you know you worked out hard enough that you know a shower is necessary?! Awesome morning.

Thank Yous All Around

Thank you Mother Nature for providing such spectacular colors and autumn temps.

Thank you Metroparks for providing me with a well-maintained all-purpose trail to run.

Thank you to my husband for the massage gift certificate that I used last night. It gave me the needed flexibility to knock out an amazing and enjoyable run today.

Hope your week was just as great!

Our New Routine

Saturday mornings have become "girl time" at our house as Meg, Bridget and I either go for a run or bike ride through the metropark. The only enticement to get Bridget to come along is to let her tackle each of the exercise stations. She loves hanging from the chin-up bars, doing sit-ups, toe reaches, jumping jacks and anything else I will let her stop for. Meg has even joined in. Love our new Saturday morning routine!

Do you have a weekend routine where others can join in?
